Who is Betty Crocker?
The name Betty Crocker was created in 1921 by the Washburn Crosby Company to be a more personalised brand for consumers. Betty was chosen as a cheery, all-American name while the Crocker came from a company director called William Crocker.
Marjorie Husted is credited with devising the name and she helped it become a cultural icon, as well as one of the biggest selling brands for General Mills. Today it's synonymous with high quality foods and remains a name recognised the world over.
As well as the established baking mixes, frostings and other cake-related products, the Betty Crocker brand has spawned numerous cookbooks and branded kitchen appliances like hand mixers.
In short, Betty Crocker represents the best of American baking and cooking.
Here at American Soda we're proud to carry many of the cake mixes and frostings for which Betty is famous.
